A large variety of fish are found in the waters around this coast including plaice, turbot, sea bream, sole, urta, dorado (gilt-head bream) and of course tuna is found on every menu. Shellfish also plays an important role, and the king prawns from Sanlucar are a local speciality. However the area is also known for its pork products, like butifarra, longaniza and chicharrones. Chiclana is also famous for its confectionery, in particular the almond tarts made by the Augustinian nuns, the Tortas de Almendra. |
